Class action lawsuit filed over oil spill

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - There is now a class action lawsuit resulting from the oil rig explosion, spill and environmental threat in the Gulf of Mexico.

Bay St. Louis attorney Edward Gibson filed the lawsuit Friday morning in U.S. District Court on behalf of Jerry Forte. Forte is the owner of Jerry Forte Seafood, a seafood company in Pass Christian.

It seeks economic and compensatory damages of at least five million dollars from BP, Transocean, Halliburton Energy Services and several other parties involved with the rig that sunk and resulting spill.

Gibson said he believes the spill will have a significant impact. And as a Hancock County resident and sportsman, he anticipates this spill will have a grave affect on our coastline for months and years to come.
