Which golfing legend will be crowned Mississippi's champion?

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) – After months of planning, and a week of pre-tournament fun, it's time to get serious about the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. The first golfers step onto tee number one at 7:30 am.

Some of legends of professional golf have come to Fallen Oak to play in the inaugural Champions Tour event. The Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic attracted a field of 78 golfers. Bernhard Langer, Tom Kite, and Mark O'Meara are just some of the stars of yesteryear who have major championship trophies on their mantles.

The man in charge of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic is tournament director Steve Nieman.

"There's a lot of people involved and part of what we've been doing is messaging to people to get on board with what we're trying to do. And that's to tell the story of what's been going on on the Gulf Coast," said Nieman.

Nearly 1,000 volunteers will make sure players and patrons have an enjoyable time during the three day tournament.

Parking for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic is at the IP Casino Resort and Spa. No cameras are allowed on the golf course. A day pass to watch the Champions Tour event is $15. You can purchase your tickets at the IP, or at Fallen Oak's main gate.
