GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Investigators say one of the two men charged in the assault of a Biloxi man is cooperating and could eventually point them to Benny Johnston.

The 25-year-old hasn't been seen since Thursday night at a home in the Crown Hill Commons subdivision off Three Rivers Road. Witnesses told deputies, Johnston was severely beaten at the home.

From the beginning, Sheriff Melvin Brisolara has said this case is being worked as a homicide.

Harrison County Sheriff's investigators tell WLOX News that one of the men under arrest, either Brian Bradshaw or Sean Merritt, pointed them to an area about two hours north of the coast, where Johnston's body was supposed to be. But so far, investigators have not found any signs of the missing man.

Bradshaw and Merritt now face kidnapping charges, in addition to the assault charges from last week.

Over the weekend, Johnston's family and friends combed the woods near Three Rivers Road, and then near the Desoto National Forest.

Family members said Johnston knew the two men now charged in the case, but they're unsure what could have lead to the beating.
