BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Surge head coach Steffon Walby is confident his hockey team will respond, following Saturday's setback on the road.  He admits, Columbus came to play saying, "Columbus gave us everything that they possibly could. They came out jumped out early on us 3 to 1 on us up there. Were very very physical."

On Friday inside the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, the Surge pulled away from Columbus late and opened the playoff series with a 5 to 2 victory.

Did the win on Friday give the Surge players too much confidence heading into game two on the road Saturday?

Walby said, "They might have thought going in there we had a 1-0 game lead that they were going to lay down a little bit but certainly in that second and third period and even in the overtime we really played well, we got back to good habits and we were one shot away from being up 2-0 in the series and now we've got to go back up there and circle the wagons and get everybody ready to go for Thursday night's contest."

Walby hopes his Surge can pick up win number 2 on Thursday and wrap up the best-of-five series by beating Columbus Friday night on the home ice.
