GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Feed My Sheep in Gulfport wanted to make sure no one was left out Easter Sunday. For the second time ever, the soup kitchen served Easter lunch. More than 100 people came out to enjoy a hot meal.

"We had ham, turkey, sweet peas, rice," Logan Cudd said, "just a good meal to get people off the streets."

A little lagniappe was added to this year's lunch. Volunteer Lynda Favre said the celebration wouldn't be complete without countless colorful eggs.

"I decided we need to have something special for the kids too, so I organized a little Easter egg hunt,"  Favre said. "It's just been awesome. The kids have had a great time and it's great. We've got grand prizes for the kids." .

As the cross shined above, many are reminded of what this holiday truly means to them.

"It's an honor and a privilege to generate this love on this special day. It makes it a great day," Favre said.

Volunteers hope to carry on the new tradition in the coming years.
