Goodwill opens new store in Gulfport

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi lost several of its retail stores when Hurricane Katrina roared ashore in 2005.

The retail store provide funding for the charity and job opportunities to disadvantaged people.

"Everything we earn comes through these retail operations," President and CEO Ronald Russell said.

Goodwill Industries just opened a new store on 31st Street in Gulfport. People drop off donations, the Goodwill processes the items, prices them and puts them on the shelf. Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi currently has four stores open in the three coastal counties, with more to come.

"We lost our Pascagoula store. We're rebuilding it and it should be open this summer," Russell said. "We're also looking at D'Iberville then the Bay St. Louis area."
