Mississippians slow to return Census forms

WASHINGTON, DC (WLOX) - Mississippi is pacing behind the national average on filling out the 2010 Census.

Wednesday, the Census Bureau unveiled a new online tool to track the rate of return of the Census forms. Right now, the top states are concentrated in the upper Midwest and Northwest.

Nationwide 20 percent of people have filled out and returned their Census forms, but in Mississippi that number is only 13 percent. South Mississippi is more in line with the national average. The six southern counties have a 20 percent return rate or better.

If you haven't filled out your Census form, it will only take ten minutes. and the questions are general information about how many people are living in your home.
