JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A computer technician with the Jackson County School District is under arrest, charged with possession of child pornography.

Mark Fred Bowie, 41, of Moss Point, was arrested Thursday. Jackson County Sheriff's investigators say "an undetermined amount of charges are pending." Bowie is being held at the Adult Detention Facility on a $500,000 bond.

Jackson County School Superintendent Dr. Barry Amacker said Bowie will be placed on administrative leave with pay, pending the school district's investigation.

Bowie's arrest came as part of Operation Mocking Bird, a joint effort of the Office of Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Operation Mocking Bird uses a combination of new technologies to help track down suspected child predators.

If convicted, Bowie faces a minimum of eight years and a maximum of 20 years in state custody for each count. At least two years of that sentence would have to be served behind bars.
