GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) – The prosecution rested its case against Nick Tran at 12:30 Monday afternoon. After a lunch recess, it will be the defense team's turn to refute the allegations made against the Biloxi pharmacist.
Government prosecutors spent a week presenting witnesses and evidence that they claimed tied Tran to an illegal pill mill operation. They told jurors the pharmacist filled hundreds of illegal narcotics prescriptions written by Dr. Thomas Trieu.
Dr. Trieu and two others have already accepted plea deals. They're awaiting sentencing.
