D'Iberville Free Clinic volunteers excited about new location

D'IBERVILLE, MS. (WLOX) - The D'Iberville Free Clinic is moving to a new location.

A trailer on Gorenflo has been the clinic's home since about a year after Hurricane Katrina hit, but now they plan to move to another trailer on Big Ridge Road. It has a lot more space than the old facility and will greatly help the folks at the clinic serve the public.

Bev Squibb has been the director almost since the day the clinic opened.

"If they could just see through my eyes and see all of what we have planned and see what it is going to look like," Squibb said during a tour of the new facility.

The new trailer was being used for storage by the D'Iberville Fire Department and has been donated by the city to the clinic. The city has been looking for a new location because the planned Town Green will be where the old clinic now stands.

For a while there, Bev was worried there weren't going to be able to find a new home.

"I stewed, I cried," she remembered.

She also wondered where they would go. But now the city and Mayor Rusty Quave have found a location that Bev calls "terrific."

Everything at the new location on Big Ridge Road is superior to what could be found at the old clinic. Now, they have a counseling area, an area for children, room for another dentist, more room for the medications they dispense, and a much larger waiting area.

Beverly said they used to have to turn people away because they did not have enough room in the waiting area. But now she is confident that won't happen again.

The new location should be ready to open by late March.
