Gulfport wants its library building back

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The city of Gulfport wants its downtown library building back. However, we're told it won't be used for library books.

Sources tell WLOX News that a resolution will be on next Tuesday's agenda asking Harrison County to shore up the hurricane battered building and return ownership of it to the city. The county actually owns the shell of what was once the downtown Gulfport library. The city owns the property it sits on.

Since the hurricane, there's been all sorts of debate about whether to rehab or demolish the once majestic structure. Gulfport council members, and the city's mayor, think saving it is their best option.
