LAKE CITY, FL (WLOX) - On Wednesday, Columbia County Sheriff's Office Deputies and Detectives in Florida along with the U.S. Marshals Service captured a man who is considered a person of interest in a Hancock County murder.

Deputy Sheriff's and Deputy Marshals found Timothy Nelson Evans at the Driftwood Motel and took him into custody without incident at approximately 4:30 pm. Authorities say he was charged with simple assault. Evans was transported to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Detective Division.

Authorities in Hancock County have been looking for Evans following the discovery of 70-year-old Wenda Lafern Holling.

Holling was found dead on the side of a road in Harrison County in January. She had been missing for three weeks before her body was discovered.

Hancock County detectives requested that CCSO Detectives question Mr. Evans about the homicide. Lt. Joe Lucas and Detective John Hatcher received a confession to the murder from Timothy Evans.

Evans will be extradited to Mississippi in the coming days. He is being held in the Columbia County Detention Facility without bond.

52-year-old Timothy Nelson Evans' most current address is 24110 379th Road, Kiln, Mississippi.
