SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Several shelters are opening Thursday as the frigid weather heads into South Mississippi.
In Hancock County, a shelter will open at Lutheran Episcopal Mission at 4 p.m. on Demontluzin Avenue in Bay St. Louis.
If you are in Pearl River County or the northern part of Hancock County, you can seek shelter at the Katrina Relief Facility on Highway 53 in Poplarville.
At 4 p.m. in Harrison County, shelter will be available at the Isaiah Fredericks Community Center on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Gulfport.
Coast Transit Authority will provide transportation to this shelter along bus route 37 between the hours of 3:40 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights. Buses will also run from the shelter to Feed My Sheep at 8am on Friday and Saturday mornings.
Emmanuel Baptist Church at 401 Holcomb Boulevard in Ocean Springs will offer overnight shelter beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Also be advised, the Salvation Army in Jackson County is always open as a shelter and the Gulf Coast Rescue Mission off DeBuys Road in Biloxi is open for men.
