HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - South Mississippi's Jerry Goff had an impressive amateur boxing career. Goff won the National olden Gloves Championship in 1985. Then the heavyweight turned professional and stepped into the ring with some of the fight game's biggest names.
"I fought Tyson. I fought Holyfield. I worked out with Lennox Lewis," recounts Goff.
Eventually boxing took its toll on Goff. He said injuries forced him into early retirement.
"My shoulder just couldn't take it anymore."
Goff, an avid bow hunter, then transformed his gym in rural Harrison County into a workshop. He invented and patented the Draw Lock. The device made archery a simple pleasure.
"You draw it back and it locks in place. It's child's play," said Goff holding one of his new compound bows.
Goff ships his products around the world. Draw Lock has become an international success. But there's more to Jerry Goff's story after boxing.
He hosted an outdoors show on satellite television called "Knockout Hunting Adventures." Now he's working on a travel show titled "All Sorts of Resorts."
"It's me, my wife and our five kids going to resorts and having a lot of fun," Goff said.
