JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Saints' championship victory Sunday night has fueled the fans' desire for more Saints merchandise. Like so many retailers, one Jackson County business owner expects to be very busy over the next few weeks, filling orders for anything black and gold.
Kim Stewart mainly did embroidering jobs for school athletic teams and a sporting goods store and as the Saints' popularity grew, so did her business.
Kim Stewart has been using up a lot of black and gold thread lately. And her embroidery machine has gone into overtime.
"It has been great business," said Stewart. "If you want Saints on it and it's sewable, I can do it."
Stewart runs Signature Stitches out of her home in the Gulf Hills neighborhood in Jackson County. What started as a hobby a year ago has grown into a profitable venture, thanks to Saints fever.
'Who Dat' drink huggies, hats, key chains and aprons for tailgaiting parties are popular items.
"I had an order for Saints shower curtain, towels and bath mats," said Stewart.
Her most unusual creation can be also used in the bathroom. That's right, she even makes embroidered Saints toilet paper.
"I have been pleasantly surprised. It has been a big hit and it has sold like crazy," said Stewart. "It is mainly for decoration. It can be used if you have an emergency and you need it."
Stewart made sure she had plenty of rolls, wrapped and ready for sale, before Sunday night's title game against the Vikings.
"My dad tried to tell me I was going to be stuck with Saints toilet paper. Even up until the last minute last night. And I kept telling him, 'No dad, I have faith. I believe'. And the Saints won," said Stewart.
Now, Stewart is designing her own Saints NFC Championship souvenirs and after that, Saints Superbowl merchandise.
"I've got black everything ordered. I have black aprons, black bags, black everything, lots of gold and black thread. I'm excited. I'm ready to sew. I'm ready to work on Saints," she said.
Stewart plans to add windbreakers to her Saints collection. By the way, she's also a big Saints fan, so she enjoys finding creative ways to show off her Saints spirit.
