The New Orleans Saints have given us a season for the history books: 13 straights wins to start the season, a division title, the best record in the NFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Indeed a historic season.
But even more important than winning, is what the Saints did for a city and a region still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. An area still trying to rebuild itself to greatness. And as the Saints became great this year, so did the pride in ourselves, and that very special team of ordinary football players, who collectively, accomplished something extraordinary. If the Saints can do it, why can't we?
For decades, the Saints were the sad-sacks of the NFL. No longer, now the Saints are feared and respected, a force to be reckoned with. And with the inspiration that team gave us all, we now believe the coast can once again become an economic and cultural force to be reckoned with as well.
Thank you Saints for all that you have done this year, both on and off the field. Now bring home another victory against Arizona on Saturday for the "WHO DAT" nation.
