GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Some didn't let the frigid temperatures keep them in house. Instead, they layered with gloves, hats and scarves to brave the cold at Prime Outlets in Gulfport.
It felt like 28 degrees in some parts of South Mississippi Saturday.
Adrian Van Well said, "You can take your shorts with you; it can be pretty nice."
That was the message Well received before he traveled 16 hours from Holland to the South Mississippi. He was hoping to go white tail deer hunting in warmer weather, but it turns out he needed an overcoat.
"We expected a lot better weather while here. The main thing is the wind, that causes some frozen feeling," said Well.
Bitter cold temperatures sent him in search of warm clothing.
Prime Outlets General Manager, Pam Meinzinger said, "Even though it's chilly outside, if you brave the weather then you get some pretty hot savings."
Bargains are what many shoppers are looking for on this cold day.
Mittens, scarves and toboggans where hot items. Shoppers said these are vital as frigid temperatures linger.
"We get ready with heavy coat because we don't want to be cold out here," said shopper Analyn Odell.
Some store managers say this cold snap has helped clear out some of their winter inventory.
