MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Moss Point store owner Willie Williams was shot in a double shooting Saturday afternoon. Williams is in critical but stable condition, according to the victim's son.
WLOX learned Saturday afternoon, another store employee, Sema Hall, was shot and killed during the incident. The shooting happened around 2:00 pm at the A&B Check Cashers on Elvira Granderson Road.
Danyella Vice and LaTasha Patterson were working just a few hundred feet from A&B Cash Checkers when the shooting took place.
"When they said somebody got shot, I just, it was scary," Patterson said. "It could have happened right here."
Patterson, who grew up in the area, said she knew Williams.
"He was a good man as I know him, a good decent man," Patterson said.
She found the chain of events hard to believe.
WLOX contacted William's son, Vic Williams, who said his father was shot twice in the shoulder.
He went on to say Marcus Harris, the man who police believe pulled the trigger, had known his father for at least 30 years.
Though he's still trying to piece together what happened. Vic Williams said it appeared the shooting was the result of a money dispute.
What makes the incident even more unbelievable for those like Patterson and Vice is the timing of it all.
Vice said, "I don't understand it, especially the day after Christmas. You think, okay Christmas is over maybe some of the craziness will stop, and it just goes on and on."
Moss Point police have yet to release a motive for the shooting.
Jackson County Vicky Broadus has not yet confirm the cause of death as it relates to Sema Hall. No word yet on when an autopsy will be performed.
