Think positive in 2010

2010, it just seems like yesterday that we were moving into the new century and now it has been ten years. What are your thoughts about the upcoming year. Do you have positive or negative thoughts? How do you see your personal economic picture in 2010?

I prefer to look at 2010 in a positive way. In 2009 all of us have had to learn how to do more with less. Most companies had lays offs, few got pay raises and many of us saw our 401-K contributions go away.

But as we start the new year, there are signs of hope. Many local and national economists believe we have hit the economic bottom and we are on the way back up. It may not be as fast as we would like, but we are making progress.

More and more firms are giving some pay raises in 2010 and companies are reinstating 401-K plans. Some local businesses are also expanding.

As we start 2010 lets look at all the things that are positive about South Mississippi. We have a skilled workforce, we are starting to see more help wanted signs, and our community is filled with people who care.

Sure there will probably be a few bumps along the way. But we all have the choice of to look at this new year and see all the positive things that can happen, not the negative. Right now 2010 is a blank check and we can all mold it anyway we want.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to, or post your comments below.
