OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - The Walter Anderson Museum of Art is hosting a traveling exhibit titled "American Masters of the Mississippi Gulf Coast." Walter Anderson pieces are mixed with the works of George Ohr, Dusti Bonge' and Richmond Barthe'.
"We have a treasure trove of artists from the coast," Museum Collections Director Douglas Myatt said.
Anderson's paintings and Ohr's art pottery are well known around South Mississippi. The museum is excited about showing the works of two lesser known artists. Dusti Bonge', a Biloxi native, is considered the first modernist painter in Mississippi.
"She had no fear," Myatt.
Richmond Barthe', who grew up in Bay St. Louis, created bronze sculptures that are in collections around the world.
American Masters of the Mississippi Gulf Coast will be on display through January 10th.
