BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis is undergoing a multi-million dollar makeover, but guests probably won't even know it's happening. The casino hopes to use a little Hollywood magic to keep construction virtually invisible. In fact, some of the renovation work is already underway.
"This is our latest creation, our new stage bar," Public Relations Director Bob Davidge said. "We opened that up on Black Friday, a day after Thanksgiving just a couple of weeks ago."
It's an upscale space where guests can catch the legendary Pete Fountain and big name local bands on Friday and Saturday nights.
"We have more architectural detailing to give it more of the Hollywood mystique and feel, including the lighting. You'll see in sections of the columns that have accent lights, that really helps create a whole new atmosphere for our guests."
Two of the casino's restaurants will also undergo makeovers. Escalators will be installed to take guests the second floor Epic Buffet. The restaurant itself will see major improvements, as will the casino's Tuscany restaurant.
"We're going to open up Tuscany to be a full waterfront view, as well as expand on the decor."
The poker room, table games, and the gift shop all have new homes.
"It made sense for us to move the gift shop over closer to the hotel, as well as close to the meeting space."
He said the changes are being made with little or no inconvenience to visitors.
"They don't see anything or hear anything. We section off walls throughout the casino in different areas so that it's not even apparent to them and doesn't disrupt business."
The total project is expected by Fall 2010.
