By WLOX Staff

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Harrison County will soon be advertising for bids on beach vendor business. The Board of Supervisors on Monday adopted a bidding process for the various locations along the 26 mile beach.

Sand Beach Director Bobby Weaver said the potential vendors will be bidding on a two year contract. The minimum bid for any location is $800 per year. For now, potential vendors will be bidding on 21 different locations along the beach.

"Certainly, that can grow as the coastline develops as well," Weaver said. "We want to give them as much opportunity to place them in targeted locations, yet not over ininundatehe beach with a bunch of vending sites as of right now."

Some beach vendors have more than one site. Existing vendors will be allowed to "match" the high bid on their preferred site, but only on a single location. Bids will be advertised soon and will be awarded by the end of January.
