Meth lab discovered at Sandhill Crane Refuge

GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) - Rangers at the Sandhill Crane Refuge discovered a "shake and bake" meth lab Thursday.

Jackson County Narcotics Task Force Director Curtis Spiers told WLOX News the rangers discovered chemicals and other meth making items under a bridge on Old Fort Bayou Road north of Interstate 10.

Spiers said the area is rural, so the chemicals pose no danger to people. Narcotics agents are monitoring the dump and awaiting the arrival of hazardous materials crew to cleanup the mess, which is expected to be complete late Thursday evening.

Spiers said the shake and bake method of making meth is mobile and the chemicals and remnants are easily dumped.
