Search resumes for bridge jumper

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) – The Department of Marine Resources' Marine Patrol has resumed its search for a person who jumped off the Bay St. Louis bridge Tuesday morning. The search was called off Tuesday afternoon due to poor weather conditions.

Authorities said they have received three eyewitness reports of a man spotted on the bridge; One person said they saw the man fall off the bridge.

Then, just after midnight Wednesday morning, Bay St. Louis Police received a call about a missing person. They said the man's description of his missing brother matched the description of the man on the bridge.

DMR, along with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department and the Coast Guard, are searching the waters south of the Hwy 90 bridge.

Wednesday afternoon, staff with the Department of Marine Resources' Artificial Reef Bureau will join the search utilizing side-scan sonar equipment to assist in the effort.
