GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - WLOX News has learned that a woman charged in a weekend shooting death once worked at the Harrison County jail.
Twonia Williams is a former corrections specialist at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. She worked there a few years ago, but left in mid 2007. Williams is charged with murder in the shooting death of 30-year old Katrina Sargent.
Harrison County Jail Warden Don Cabana said since Sargent was a former jail employee, she was moved to another jail to ensure her safety.
The Gulfport Police and Fire Departments are still investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed Williams' FEMA trailer Sunday night. Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said Monday that the fire appeared to have been intentionally set.
