The coast has yet another reason to be proud this week. And we can thank the football players from St. Stanislaus for giving us that reason. On Saturday, the Rockachaws pounded Lafayette County High to claim the 4A state football title. It's the first ever football championship for St. Stanislaus.
The Rocks stampeded through the season behind the play of record setting quarterback, Dylan Favre. He was the face of the team, but let's not forget the unsung heroes of that team. The offensive line that protected Favre all season long, and opened up big holes for the running game. The defense that held opponents in check, with the exception of the one game they lost. And the coaches who prepared the young men for a gridiron battle every week, taught them how to win with grace and lose with dignity.
It all paid off in the end, when the players hoisted the trophy above their heads, basking in the glow of their accomplishment. These players brought a sense of community with them on the trip to Jackson, and brought something home with them that's even more important, knowing that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. We salute the Rockachaws on a job well done.
