GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport police say they have made a lot of progress in their investigation into the murder of Kima Bradley. The 37-year-old mother of three died of a single gunshot wound to the head on November 23. The murder happened outside where she worked at Labor Finders, just east of Dedeaux Road.

Kima Bradley grew up in Moss Point with 14 brothers and sisters. It was a happy home, with two hard working parents. As for Kima, her older sister said, she always had a smile on her face.

"She was fun, she was outgoing, she loved life, and she did not meet strangers," Mary Lawrence remembered.

That's why those who knew her can't believe someone wanted Kima Bradley dead. She leaves behind three children and a grandchild.

"If nothing else happens, we will make sure our nieces and nephews receive the justice due unto them," her sister said. "Those children not only lost their mother, they lost their best friend."

Many of those family members came to the vigil Monday night to light a candle to remember Kima. Among those was her sister Shemekia.

"It seemed it seemed like my whole world crashed, because we did everything together. She was my world. She was my best friend."

This family isn't just dealing with Kima's murder, but also with the devastating news about what happened to Kima's father after he heard of his daughter's murder. Sunday, Prentice Lawrence, heartbroken over the death of his daughter, passed away. He had suffered a stroke after hearing of Kima's murder.

Mary Lawrence summed up best how this family feels.

"It just hurts because the person who murdered my sister killed my daddy," Lawrence said. "We want justice to be done."
