JACKSON, MS (WLOX) - Before the 2009 high school football season kicked off, St. Stanislaus head coach Forrest Williams knew his Rockachaws had the talent to advance to the 4A State Championship game.
After 13 wins and 1 loss, St. Stanislaus was one victory away from reaching the top of the mountain.
14-1 Lafayette County stood in the Rockachaws way Saturday afternoon in the championship game at Jackson's Mississippi Memorial Stadium.
Rockachaws head coach Forrest Williams had his players ready for the title showdown. St. Stanislaus quarterback Dylan Favre rushed over 1,000 yards this season. He rushed for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns and had one interception. He passed for 342 years and three TDs.
The St. Stanislaus defense played well forcing a number of turnovers.
Boomer Scarborough made a touchdown catch to put St. Stanislaus on top 14 to nothing.
Krisjon Wilkerson, a senior wide receiver, also had a record breaking year. He had the third touchdown for the Rockachaws.
St. Stanislaus beat the Lafayette Commodores 28-7. The 4A State Trophy is coming home to Bay St. Louis and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Congratulations to coach Forrest Williams, his entire coaching staff and the Rockachaws.
