GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport police say a dispute between a man's girlfriend and his ex-girlfriend ended in murder. The incident happened in the early morning hours of Saturday in North Gulfport.

Officers say Katrina Sargent, 30, was shot to death at her West Virginia Avenue home after an argument with another woman. Family members tell WLOX Sargent was shot in the face.

Twonia Renee Williams, 45, of Gulfport is charged with murder and is in the Harrison County Jail under a $2.5 million bond. Police say Williams is the ex-girlfriend of the man Sargent had been dating.

Sargent's family and friends gathered at her mother's home to mourn and comfort one another. She leaves behind three children ages 12, nine and eight who family members say were at the house at the time of the shooting. Now, relatives say they'll have to pull together to raise the children.

"We lost a wonderful person. She was good in the neighborhood. She was good with everybody around here," Family friend Maurice Johnson said. "She was too young to lose her life. She's got three wonderful kids. It was just hard for everybody to lose her."

Family members say the two women had confrontations in the past, and the shooting wasn't the first time Williams had shown up at Sargent's house.

Sargent also leaves behind her parents and eight siblings.

"She was a real kind person," said Johnson. "She was down to earth. She was a wonderful person. "
