Starting a new business is always a challenge. But starting a new business in tight economic times can be even more difficult. Just look at Pascagoula. So far this year more than 20 new businesses have opened their doors in that city. But some of them have already gone out of business. In order to help new businesses keep going Pascagoula officials, the chamber and the Main Street Organization are doing an outreach.
Each group takes turns visiting several stores around town to help give them a boost. This new plan will not only bring customers to the businesses, but the new store owners may be able to learn tricks of the trade from more established store owners.
We think the community leaders have the right idea and everyone should reach out to new businesses. We are not saying abandon your favorite stores, but when you hear about a new business in your community please stop in and see what it has to offer. This gives the business a better chance of succeeding and our community more economic growth and opportunity.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post your comments below.
