HATTIESBURG, MS (WLOX) - Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Emmy award winning ABC television show, was in Hattiesburg Monday morning for a pep rally. Five families in the Hattiesburg area are being considered for one of the show's televised building projects.

On December 3rd, one family will be selected when host Ty Pennington rolls up on the Extreme Makeover bus.

"Then we'll demolish a home and build a new one in just seven days," Executive Producer Conrad Ricketts said.

Ricketts and his team held a pep rally at the Lake Terrace Convention Center to get the community excited and look for volunteers. People lined up and signed up to volunteer for the project.

Ricketts was happy with what he saw.

"It was a huge turnout," Ricketts said.

The hit TV show will give Hattiesburg national attention.

"You can't pay for this kind of exposure," Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree said.

AAA Homes will be the lead builder and the company is happy about seeing the spotlight fall on South Mississippi.

"It's a big time ABC show," David Thompson from AAA Homes said. "It's a chance for Hattiesburg to show the world what they're made of."
