BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - This weekend thousands of people started their holiday shopping early. Shoppers flocked to Christmas City in Biloxi.
Organizers said the event drew 7,500 people on Saturday and another 5,000 on Sunday. That puts Christmas City back up to pre-Katrina numbers. Organizers said the key to the show's success is offering customers variety.
"I think just the whole event itself, and it's not just one particular thing," said Ron Meyers, Show organizer. "It's the combination of everything working together whether it's the crafts, it's the kids activities, it's Santa Claus, it's the movies. It's an event. It's not just a shopping experience. "
Christmas City organizers said they were impressed by the Coliseum's new convention space and believe the addition helped make this year's event successful.
