A Biloxi elementary school is packing its patriotism into care packages. Students at North Bay Elementary have collected items like candy, playing cards, coffee, and toiletries to send to three military personnel stationed overseas. They're also sending Ron Pierce, Jeffrey Lawson, and John Gallop more than 700 letters.
The principal says the three men were chosen because of their personal connection to the school. Gallop and Lawson have sisters who teach at North Bay, Pierce's children are students.
"I was surprised because at first it didn't seem like very much was coming in but right at the end they always do well and they just overwhelmed us with all this stuff. I know the guys will be pleased," Teacher Debbie Girouald said.
The school principal says the care packages should be shipped sometime this week. The gifts will be a surprise.
