CARNES, MS (WLOX) - Forrest County Sheriff's deputies have launched an investigation into an explosion that killed two teenaged boys early Saturday morning.
Officials say an oil holding tank exploded around 4 am on Phillip White Road in the Carnes community.
The victims have been identified as Devon Byrd, 16, and Phillip White, 18. Authorities say they are trying to determine what caused the tank, which contained mostly fumes, to spark.
Forrest County Sheriff Billy McGee says the force from the blast threw the teens at least 50 feet.
