LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - The city of Long Beach is courting a business that could bring an influx of jobs to the area. Mayor Billy Skellie said the company is a manufacturer, but because negotiations are underway, did not release its name.
Skellie said company representatives recently toured the Triton Industries building on East Railroad Street. Triton is preparing to vacate the facility. If the manufacturer were to set up shop there, Skellie said it would bring in 100 to 150 jobs at the start of its operation, then employ more people over time.
According to Skellie, company officials said they like the location, but haven't yet made a decision. The mayor said the company is working with the Mississippi Development Authority for possible financial assistance.
