We are glad the Harrison County Board of Supervisors listened to the outrage over the 20 thousand dollar pay raises for three county employees and voted to rescind the raises. As we said on Sunday, we do not believe these officials should be singled out and given huge pay raises.
Monday the board of Supervisors unanimously voted to rescind the pay raises for Tax Collector David Larosa, Tax assessor Tal Flurry and County administrator Pam Ulrich. As Supervisor Marlin Ladner said, "this is not the time to be giving pay raises. If we're going to be giving pay raises, it's got to be across the board, not selective pay raises." Voting to rescind these pay raises was the right thing to do.
