BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Casino revenue continues to tumble and the recession is still a source of much concern. Nonetheless, casino properties on the coast are carefully moving forward with expansion plans.

Boomtown Casino has just opened a new restaurant called BT Steakhouse.

"It's a fine dining restaurant with an emphasis on value," Marketing Director Sunita Sailor said.

In early 2010, Boomtown will start construction on a new general store in the casino's main entrance. The casino will eventually move its well known bakery into that area on the first floor.

Boomtown's parent company, Penn National Gaming, has been cautious about capital improvements in this current economic climate. Sailor says Penn National is financially sound.

"Our company is in very good shape. They're making smart decisions."

All coast casino operators are keeping a watchful eye on the bottom line in an effort to expand while dealing with fiscal constraints.
