GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A Harrison County inmate with a long criminal history is back behind bars after he walked off from a work center Friday morning.

Nathaniel Jackson has more than 30 charges on his arrest record, including domestic violence, kidnapping and burglary. He walked away from the work center on Cowan-Lorraine Road, but was caught shortly thereafter.

Authorities say he stole a car from the work center and headed to his girlfriend's house in the 2100 block of Collins Boulevard. Jackson's girlfriend, Lanitea Allen, was arrested for harboring a fugitive. The car he used to get away has not been found.

Jackson has now added a new charge of misdemeanor escape to that long arrest record.
