HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Emergency 911 calls from Hancock County, Bay St. Louis and Waveland are being rerouted through Harrison County. Tuesday afternoon, work crews accidentally cut a main phone line to the county's central dispatch.

The emergency calls are being rerouted to AMR dispatch in Harrison County, then relayed by radio back to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

Crews installing a water tower near Dolly's Quick Stop in the Kiln accidentally cut the phone line around 1pm. Officials hope to have the lines fixed by Wednesday afternoon, at the latest.

Rain in the area Tuesday afternoon was making the repair work more difficult, as water kept filling up the hole.
