GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Attorneys for Brent and Laura Warr filed more motions this week to dismiss some of the federal fraud charges against the couple.
Last month, the former Gulfport Mayor and his wife asked a federal judge to dismiss five of the 20 counts. This week, they asked that four more charges be thrown out. All are related to the Katrina fraud allegations against the couple.
The Warrs are charged with 16 counts connected to Katrina grant money. The government has also charged the Warrs with fraudulently obtaining bank loans on two properties before the storm.
The judge has not ruled on the motions to dismiss some of the charges. The Warrs are scheduled to go to trial in October.
