HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Swine Flu has been confirmed as the cause of death for a Hancock Middle School student.
Heidi Ann Peterson, a 13-year-old girl from the Kiln, died last Thursday. Hancock County Coroner Norma Stiglet told WLOX News that autopsy results confirmed she had Swine Flu.
Meanwhile, in Warren County, officials have already determined that preliminary swine flu tests are negative for a 15-year-old student who also died last week. The Warren County Coroner said health officials are now conducting further tests on Wesley Husband. Wesley was a student at Warren Central High School.
This is the second swine flu related death on the coast this year. Earlier this year, a 7-year-old child in Jackson County also died from the virus. According to the state health department, that child had multiple underlying medical conditions.
