HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The District Attorney's office will take over the investigation into a deadly weekend accident on the Tchoutacabouffa River as soon as Tuesday.
Investigators with the Department of Marine Resources told WLOX News their information and evidence will be given to District Attorney Cono Carana's office. The DA's office will then determine whether charges will be filed against 26-year-old Conley Bernius.
Saturday afternoon, the boat driven by Bernius collided with another boat on the Tchoutacabouffa River at Riverview Drive in D'Iberville. The driver of the other boat, Christopher Webb was killed. Webb's 16-year-old brother, Shane, was critically injured.
On Monday, Shane Webb's condition was upgraded from critical to serious. While that's good news, the family is trying to come to grips with the tragedy. Jeff Lawson spoke with the family Monday at their home in D'Iberville, and will have their story Monday on WLOX News at 10pm and Good Morning Mississippi Tuesday morning.
