GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - In 2005, Master Sergeant Sean Cooley of Ocean Springs was killed in Iraq. His family was devastated. Sean's mother, Katherine Cooley, and other family members of fallen soldiers are able to see a traveling mural that honors their lost loved ones.

A traveling mural sponsored by Bancorp South and the Military Order of the Purple Heart has been brought to South Mississippi.

"My son will always be remembered," Katherine Cooley said.

The mural has photographs of Mississippians who were killed on battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"It's important to have the photos. They send cold chills through surviving family members," said Joseph Balanovich with the Order of Purple Hearts.

The mural also pays tribute to American soldiers who paid the ultimate price in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.

The traveling mural will be in the lobby of Bancorp's downtown Gulfport building until September 7th. It will then move to Bancorp South's Biloxi main branch through September 21st.
