Man out on bond charged with DUI death

By WLOX Staff

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A 19-year-old woman died early Wednesday morning, and police say the man driving the car she was in is responsible.

The accident happened just after 2:30am on East Wortham Road. Investigators with the sheriff's department say Charles Carter, 23, lost control of his vehicle, skidded off the road and struck a tree.

Carter managed to get his car back on the road, but that's when his passenger, Autumn Daly, was thrown from the car. Coroner Gary Hargrove said the young woman was found in a ditch, and died on the scene.

Carter has been charged with driving under the influence causing death. His bond is set at $250,000. Carter was already out on bond on armed robbery charges.
