JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Jackson County authorities have made an arrest in two year old murder case. Tommy Lee Hester, Junior is charged with murder in a January 2007 death.

Investigators said the victim was assaulted, and Hester was a suspect early on. But after an autopsy was performed, it appeared the victim died of a drug overdose.

According to Sheriff Mike Byrd, a break in the case came last February when Hester's own family and friends came forward to say Hester was bragging about murdering the victim. The sheriff reopened the case, which led to the arrest.

Tommy Hester is 49 and lives on Tracy Street in the Orange Grove community of Jackson County. He's being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance in county court.
