PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - A Pascagoula man who police say is on probation is in jail accused of robbing a gas station. Shortly after 5 o'clock Sunday morning, officers say they responded to an alarm at the Exxon Gas station on Chicot Road and discovered the business had been robbed.

Witnesses gave officers a description of the robber and said the man had run away carrying a cash register. Police say they found the 46-year-old Terry Peters hiding in a yard a short distance from the store and later recovered the cash register in a parking lot.

Peters is charged with one count of Robbery. Officers say because Peters is on probation, he has been placed on hold for Mississippi Department of Corrections. Pascagoula police say they have not been able to determine for what crime Peters is on probation.
