Classes will soon start for William Carey University students. However there is a big change this year. Instead of going to classes in trailers located on its beach front property in Gulfport, the University has a new facility on Highway 67.
Hurricane Katrina's winds and water destroyed the Highway 90 campus. We applaud the University for choosing to retain its campus here in South Mississippi. William Carey could have folded its coast campus after the storm and decided to operate just out of its main Hattiesburg campus.
Instead the University has built a multi million dollar facility which is a state of the art school. It will offer students so much more in the way of technology and other learning aids which will enhance a student's college experience.
William Carey University has for years been an important mix in the higher education choices in South Mississippi. This new campus guarantees that William Carey University will continue to be at the forefront of higher education on the Mississippi Coast.
