BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Heated debate on national healthcare reform has led to an ongoing a war of words between a Mississippi Congressman and a special interest group. On Friday, Congressman Gene Taylor called Americans for Tax Reform "lying sacks of scum" for accusing him of changing his position on healthcare.

Congressman Taylor's office called the group asking for a retraction. Instead of a retraction, the group released a statement accusing him of voting for income tax hikes despite having pledged not to.

The Americans for Tax Reform web site said, "Congressman Taylor has historically had a difficult time telling the truth and keeping his promises."

On Saturday, Congressman Taylor had strong words about Grover Norquist, the organization's founder and president.

"This guy was up to his neck in the Jack Abranoff scandal. He has a history of sleazy maneuvers that you take it for what it's worth. He is a sleazy guy lying about my position on healthcare. He gets caught in a lie, tries to change the subject," Taylor said. "He is what's wrong with Washington. He is the kind of guy I wish we could put behind bars where he belongs."

Congressman Taylor says he will not vote for the President's healthcare plan unless the administration can show how it can be paid for. Taylor says Congress has a difficult enough time paying for the promises it has already made.
