WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) - Waveland Mayor Tommy Longo has been waiting for this day. Almost four years after Katrina devastated Waveland, recovery has kicked into high gear, with a groundbreaking for the new Waveland library. City, county, and state officials took part in the ceremony at the building site on the corner of Coleman and Central Avenues.
Longo says the groundbreaking is a sign of hope for residents who have endured so much. The new 2.6 million dollar facility will replace the trailer on Coleman residents have been using since Katrina. In addition the full service library, the building will include a teen center called "the Wave" And the library is just the beginning of a long list of projects ready to begin.
