Home Invasion Turns Deadly In Harrison County

On Sunday, the Stevenson family took down the crime scene tape left by police responding to a home invasion at their house on Elm Road. Around 10 p.m. the night before the Harrison County Sheriff's deputies say they got a call about someone trying to break in with a gun.

One member of the Stevenson family told WLOX news that an acquaintance, 42 year old Timmy Murphy of Bay St. Louis, had refused to leave her home. She says she called 911 and managed to lock Murphy outside the house. Then she, her teenage son and a friend hid in a closet when they noticed the man loading a gun. Police say Murphy broke in and shot a 17 year old boy in the leg. Then one of the people in the house shot Murphy.

Coroner Gary Hargrove pronounced Timmy Murphy dead at the scene from a gun shot wound to the chest. The teenager was treated and released from Memorial Hospital. No charges were filed.
